A Christmas Carol - meet cast member Meredith Endres

Tell me a little bit about your character. She is independent, and a role model for the little kids. The younger ones look up to her.  What were some of the challenges for you in working on this piece? When Tiny Tim is dead, a real challenge is trying to be sad yet supporting the younger ones and her parents. What do you hope audiences will take away from this play? That money means very little, and Christmas time should not be about shopping deals and presents, but about kindness, and contentment.

I have had the distinct pleasure of portraying “Scrooge” five times under the tutelage of some wonderful directors – Roland Gomez, Rachael Keep Hubbard and Donna Ferragut. In addition, each of these productions has had the deft musical touch of Linda Wells. My journey as Scrooge has given me an everted view of A Christmas Carol and the Dickensian terrain as a whole. I have endeavored to sculpt a portion of the tale from the actor’s perspective - how Scrooge perceives the world and his audience, instead of the reverse. In addition, things discussed but never seen come to life in this latest LTA rendition. The chapel, the schoolhouse, Scrooge’s bed chambers, Marley’s underworld and Scrooge’s own funeral procession are but a few of the new revelations. Each serves to enrich Scrooge’s metamorphosis and highlight the play’s overall themes of gratitude, generosity, and hope. Even Ali Baba, a childhood favorite of Dickens, and other self-proclaimed visions come to life in this rendition

Tell me a little bit about your character. My character is Boy Dick Wilkins.  I am Ebenezer's friend when he was a boy away at school. What were some of the challenges for you in working on this piece? I am trying to work on my projection.  It feels funny being loud AND doing a proper British accent.   I am trying to imagine my Papa in the last row.  He is coming all the way from New York to see the play and I know he will want to hear me.  What do you hope audiences will take away from this play? Be kind to everyone; be giving of yourself especially to people who have less than you and just keep the Christmas spirit in your heart.   Doing this play really makes me feel good and I hope the audience feels that way too.
