My name is Natalie Cavender. I am a fourth grader and I go to George Mason Elementary School. I play the roles of Belle’s Child, Urchin, Want and Fezziwig Party Guest. This is my second show. My first show was last year’s A Christmas Carol. What do you find appealing about your character and this show? What I find appealing about my character Belle’s child is that she is a happy, sweet child showing Scrooge something he missed out on. What I find appealing about my character Urchin is that even though she is very poor and very young, she still tries to earn money or food for herself. What have you learned about yourself playing the role of Urchin? Playing the role of Urchin, I learned that if I really try I can learn to speak a different way than I usually do at home. What do you want the audience to take away from this show? I want people to take away from the show that Christmas is about family and friends and being kind, not only about presents. How long have yo

What do I find appealing about your character and this show? Playing the role of death is never easy!   I have no lines to memorize but a lot ques and movements which are very vital.   I like to joke that I am doing “a lot of pointing with an English accent.”    I appear on stage with the character Scrooge for a long period so it’s important to concentrate and give something for Scrooge to play off as an actor.   It’s probably one of the most physically challenging roIes I have ever done.   My supporting role as Gentlemen 2 allows me a few lines which to engage with Scrooge as a happy fundraiser for the poor.   It’s a delightful and happy role.   Poulter is a brief appearance with the big turkey at the end which allows for a bit of goofiness which I love to do! What have I learned about myself playing these characters? That I can still be versatile as an actor.   Also I am reminded that my roles though they are not large by nature as just as important to the totality of the

What do you find appealing about your character and this show? I play three different characters in the show and I like that I get to be a part of all the different times in Scrooge’s journey.  First as Mrs Fezziwig, helping to create that wonderful Christmas party atmosphere in his younger days; then as Mary (Fred’s wife), creating another homey Christmas time memory, that helps him realize there’s more to joy than just having money; and then as Mrs. Pipchin, helping to illuminate the lack of empathy people have for him. What do you want the audience to experience/take away from this show? How best to celebrate the holiday in their heart. We see different holiday celebrations throughout the show, some large, some small, some with many friends, and some with just intimate families. However you best keep Christmas in your heart is the best way to keep it. How does this show differ from other shows you have worked on? Well, it’s my first show in Virginia (I move
