What do you find appealing about your character and this show? I think Phoebe has the opportunity to display multiple levels of her character if you truly take the time to unwrap her persona. Looking at her from a distance, you find she has been raised in a position of distinction and class, along with the other members of the D’Ysquith family. As can be expected, her upbringing has kept her greatly sheltered and isolated, free for others to make whatever assumptions and conclusions they wish about her. Underneath it all, she is a woman of intelligence and poise, with a yearning desire for a romance that thrills her, both from an intellectual and emotional standpoint. Perhaps a certain Monty Navarro has these qualities?    What have you learned about yourself in playing the role of Phoebe? What do you find appealing about your character and this show? I saw ‘Gentleman’s Guide’ on Broadway on a whim—some promotion for 2-for-1 tickets. I didn’t really know what I was getting into, but it looked interesting and the price was right. It was such a pleasant surprise—I laughed so much my face hurt! I love playing Sibella because she’s egocentric and superficial, yet so oblivious to her own faults that you just can’t bring yourself to hate her. What have you learned about yourself in playing the role of “Sibella”? Sibella—like all of the characters in this show—is magnificently flawed, in a larger-than-life sort of way, but it’s all based on basic human truths. You’ll be laughing at the absurdity of it all, yet relating to it on some level. It’s simultaneously funny and unsettling. What do you want the audience to experience/take away from this show? I just hope we can make them laugh as hard as I did when I first saw this show! How does this show differ from

Tell us a little about yourself: I work as a director, actor, and a teaching artist. I love all forms of theatre and collaborating with other passionate artists. I have been acting professionally since college and, through theatre, have found many talented, thoughtful mentors who have helped expand my love of theatre to directing. Through directing, I have found many more ways to challenge myself creatively. I also enjoy working with children and teaching theatre. This way, I can share my passion with others! How does this show differ from other shows you’ve worked on? This is the largest show I have directed! While this is definitely a challenge, I always enjoy an opportunity to creatively problem solve.   There are so many moving parts to this puzzle and so many great actors, designers, and crew members helping out with this.
