Welcome Kimberly (Kim) Smith-Salmon as our new LTA Summer Camp Director

Please join us in welcoming Kimberly (Kim) Smith-Salmon as our 2022 Summer Camp Director. Kim is no stranger to LTA - her mom first introduced her to LTA 47.5 years ago when she was just 2 1/2! Summer Camp is probably the one area at LTA that Kim hasn't been involved in - she's worked on Props, Set, Construction Lighting, Costume Design, Make-Up, Sound and Wardrobe crews. She's also Stage Managed, assisted with Stage Combat, Chaired the Director's Selection Committee, been the LTA Costume Chairperson, the LTA Archivist, Directed an LTA One-Act and from 1994-2003, taught the 5th-8th grade acting classes. Most recently, Kim has been helping Kathy Dillaber with her 3rd-5th grade classes and serves on the LTA Council. Camp commence June 6th and run through August 19th. What are you looking forward to most about Summer Camp 2022?
Everything! I love seeing the "Ah-Ha" moments people have when they are learning about theatre - especially children. The joy they have for what they are doing is contagious.

What might we see that's new at camp this year?

Spirit Days, welcome packages, being sorted into "houses", and having full-day in-person camps for the first time since 2019.

What do you most want our campers to get out of their 2022 LTA Summer Camp experience?

I want our campers to get at least two things out of their experience this summer. The first is, I want all campers to have fun - if it's not fun, it's not a place you want to be, and secondly, I want our students to come away with a better overall appreciation for all things and parts of the theatre and - for those campers who'll be performing at the end of the week - that they get an idea of what it's like to put on a show.

Anything else?
We are a team, and I want to help the teachers, counselors, and students to have fun while working together. I am here to assist, facilitate, and support our teachers and counselors and look forward to meeting everyone soon.
