What do I find appealing about your character and this show? Playing the role of death is never easy!   I have no lines to memorize but a lot ques and movements which are very vital.   I like to joke that I am doing “a lot of pointing with an English accent.”    I appear on stage with the character Scrooge for a long period so it’s important to concentrate and give something for Scrooge to play off as an actor.   It’s probably one of the most physically challenging roIes I have ever done.   My supporting role as Gentlemen 2 allows me a few lines which to engage with Scrooge as a happy fundraiser for the poor.   It’s a delightful and happy role.   Poulter is a brief appearance with the big turkey at the end which allows for a bit of goofiness which I love to do! What have I learned about myself playing these characters? That I can still be versatile as an actor.   Also I am reminded that my roles though they are not large by nature...

What do you find appealing about your character and this show? I play three different characters in the show and I like that I get to be a part of all the different times in Scrooge’s journey.  First as Mrs Fezziwig, helping to create that wonderful Christmas party atmosphere in his younger days; then as Mary (Fred’s wife), creating another homey Christmas time memory, that helps him realize there’s more to joy than just having money; and then as Mrs. Pipchin, helping to illuminate the lack of empathy people have for him. What do you want the audience to experience/take away from this show? How best to celebrate the holiday in their heart. We see different holiday celebrations throughout the show, some large, some small, some with many friends, and some with just intimate families. However you best keep Christmas in your heart is the best way to keep it. How does this show differ from other shows you have worked on? Well, it’s my first show in Virginia (I ...

What do you find appealing about your character and this show?   I believe the character of Fred is important, in that he embodies the theme and the message the show overall is trying to convey. He is eternally optimistic, and strives to see the best in everyone and every situation.   He views Christmas as a special time when everybody else is able to see the world the same way, and I think he hopes that it provides a way to redeem one's self from the rest of the year.   As far as the show itself goes, there is no better way to get in the Christmas spirit than to see the classical story play out in front of you. What have you learned about yourself in playing the role of Fred?   It had been a while since I've revisited A Christmas Carol, and I was struck by some similarities in his life and mine that I had never noticed before.   Taking on the role also helped awaken the inner optimist in myself as well.   As an adult, and in particular as an at...
