LTA’s Inaugural Scholarship Awards Two “Stars” in the Local Alexandria Theatre Community
The Little Theatre of Alexandria, one of the oldest community theatre companies in the country, has chosen to honor two of it’s junior members with scholarships that will enable them to pursue their future goals in theatre and beyond. LTA believes strongly in supporting the Alexandria community, and with it their young talent. The awards were presented at LTA’s Annual Meeting in June. This is the first year LTA has provided a scholarship opportunity. The “Actor Award” was presented to Maya Brettell (18), a young home-schooled actor who embodies the spirit of LTA. Her theatre accomplishments – at LTA and at other local theatres – run the gamut of professional, community and regional theatre. In addition to commercial work, Maya has performed in Signature Theatre’s world premiere of “Beaches” as Young Bertie, danced as Louise Bigelow in Baltimore’s version of “Carousel,” was nominated for a WATCH award for her portrayal of “Annie” at KAT, and most recently starred in Washington,...
