Key for Two - meet cast member Charlene Sloan

What do you find appealing about your character and this show?
Key For Two is such a funny show. It has many of the typical elements you find in a British farce. However, in this play the male/female roles are reversed! I love being able to play a strong, confident woman rather than the typical naive or air-headed ladies that are often portrayed in British farces. The role reversal is really fun to do.

What have you learned about yourself in playing this role?
While playing the role of Harriet, I have learned that I don't have the energy it takes to be a cheating wife or girlfriend! LOL! It just takes so much energy to keep up with the lies and the complex scheduling.

What do you want the audience to experience/take away from this show?
I really just want the audience to laugh and have a good time with us! Some theater can really make you think, or ponder important aspects of life. This is not one of those shows. This is just a really fun farce that will make you laugh out loud and most of us don't get enough belly laughter in our lives.

What advice would you give others who are interested in working in theatre?
I would say if you are interested in theater, whether it's on stage or backstage, just do it! Give it a try. Volunteer! What's the worst that could happen? You will likely enjoy it and learn so much about what goes into a show like Key For Two. And you'll learn a lot about yourself. Acting can be very cathartic!!

What are some of your other interest aside from theatre?
I love animals and work a great deal with animal rescue groups.  The main organization I support are Main Line Animal Rescue (www.mlar.org) and Broadway Barks, which is a charity started by Bernadette Peters and the late, great Mary Tyler Moore (www.broadwaybarks.com).  Don't shop, adopt!  I also love making mosaics in my spare time.  I have even sold a few!  I took a mosaics class recently and made a mosiac of my own eye!!
